Client: Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust
Construction Cost: £35 Million
Procurement: Part of Integrated Health Projects P21 Principle Supply Chain Partner (PSCP) team.
Delivered through the P21 framework, the purpose-built women and childrenís facility, opened at North Manchester General Hospital in June 2010. The facilities offer women and children a modern, bright and spacious environment.
The new development means that the hospital is able to offer a full range of high quality maternity services to women, children and babies including: Antenatal ward, Postnatal ward, Delivery suite/labour ward and operating theatres, Neonatal unit/special baby care unit (SCBU) and New midwife-led birth centre.
In addition to the steel framed building construction, which links into the existing main hospital building, the enabling phase of the project included a total re-modelling of the surrounding landscape including demolition of existing buildings and significant earthworks and retaining structures to provide a re-planned vehicular and pedestrian access route.
